Reporting & research on Shopify and ecommerce
Most 'best themes' lists are one vendor recommending their own four themes. We took the whole Clothing category — 261 themes — and ranked the top of it by four things you can check yourself: Shopify's browse position, the capability count Shopify publishes, real-visitor Core Web Vitals, and price.
Every “best Shopify themes for clothing” list you have read was written by someone with an interest in the answer.
Usually it is a theme vendor recommending four of their own themes. Sometimes it is an affiliate site ranking by commission. Occasionally it is genuine taste, which is fine, but taste does not travel: the theme that suits a 40-product label is not the theme that suits a 4,000-product retailer, and no amount of adjectives tells you which you are looking at.
So we did the boring version instead. We took the entire Clothing category of the Shopify Theme Store — 261 themes on 23 September 2026 — and put four measured numbers next to the top of it.
All four are things you can check yourself in an afternoon:
Disclosure, before the table rather than after it: this site is published by UTD BV, which develops two of the themes below — Allure and Gain. We have not moved them, excluded anyone, or weighted anything. Every number comes from Shopify’s own pages and Google’s own field data, and the method is written out above so you can repeat it.

Price does not predict capability. The joint-highest capability count in this group is 58, and it belongs to a $100 theme and to a $400 theme alike. At the other end, a $420 theme sits at 44 and a $500 theme at 46 — both below the store-wide median of 48. If you are paying more for a longer feature list, check the list.
Price does not predict speed either. Three themes priced between $340 and $420 sit below the market’s median mobile pass rate. The fastest in this group, at 92.8%, costs $170. The single most expensive, at $500, is genuinely fast at 90.1% — so the relationship is not inverted, it is simply absent.
Price does predict review history, and that is worth something. The themes above $300 here carry between 100 and 1,292 merchant reviews. The two $100 themes carry 25 and 78. A long review list is evidence that a lot of stores survived the theme, and for a first store that is a reasonable thing to buy.
Capability breadth is not quality. Athora and Volume both reach 59, the store ceiling, and both sit below the median on speed. Motion sits at 44 capabilities and is the 6th-placed theme in the category. Breadth tells you how often you will need an app; it does not tell you how the storefront feels.
The table narrows the field. It cannot pick for you, because the two things that decide it are not in any table.
First, open the demos on your own phone. Not a desktop browser narrowed to phone width — your phone, on your network, the way your customers will. Scroll a product page to the bottom. Search for something spelled wrong. Filter to a combination that returns nothing. Most themes fall apart in exactly those three places, and no comparison table catches it.
Second, count your own catalogue. Under a few hundred products, the collection page barely matters and the product page decides everything. Over a thousand, filtering and search decide everything and a beautiful product page will not save you. Themes are built for one of those two worlds and dressed for the other.
Third, decide what you are actually buying with the extra money. Between $100 and $430 in this table there is no reliable difference in capability or speed. There is a difference in how many merchants have used the thing before you, and in whether anyone answers when you write. Both are checkable before you buy: the review count is on the listing, and the support response is one email.
Allure by UTD is 11th of 261. It is the only theme in the top 20 at $100, it carries 58 of the store’s 59 capabilities, and its mobile pass rate of 85.7% is above the market median. Its weak number is the review count: 25, against hundreds for the themes around it. That is what a newer theme looks like, and it is the honest reason to hesitate.
Gain by UTD is 17th of 261, also $100, also 58 capabilities, and carries 78 reviews — the longest history of any theme we publish. Its weak number is speed: 74.9% mobile, well under the 84.8% median. It is the most image-dense theme on our shelf, and images are the part a merchant controls, but we would rather print that number than let you find it.
If you want the fastest theme in this table, it is Blum at 92.8% and $170, and we did not build it.

Storefront Daily is published by UTD BV, which develops the Allure and Gain themes listed above. Category positions from our own daily crawl of all twenty Shopify Theme Store categories, 23 September 2026. Capability counts from the feature list Shopify publishes on each theme’s page, 326 themes. Prices from our crawl of 305 themes with a listed price. Core Web Vitals from Chrome UX Report field data, August 2026, 249 themes with enough mobile data. Blank cells mean not measured, not zero.
There is no single best one, and any list that gives you four names without showing its numbers is telling you the author's taste. On measured data as of 23 September 2026, the highest-placed themes in Shopify's own Clothing browse are Radian, Arctos, Gravity's GenZ preset, Highstreet's Streetwear preset and Majestic's Iconic preset. Among themes we can also price and speed-test, Motion, Symmetry, Impulse, Stiletto and Allure by UTD occupy positions 6 to 11. Choose on the four numbers in the table below rather than on a ranking, because the theme that fits a 40-product label is not the one that fits a 4,000-product retailer.
The paid range across the whole Shopify Theme Store is $100 to $500 with a median of $300, measured across 305 themes with a listed price in September 2026. Inside the Clothing top 25 the spread is the same, and it does not track capability: the joint-highest capability count in that group, 58, belongs to a $100 theme and also to a $400 one. Price buys support, update cadence and documentation more reliably than it buys features, so those are the things worth checking individually.
Across the Clothing top 25, mobile Core Web Vitals pass rates measured from Chrome real-visitor data for August 2026 run from 74.2% to 92.8%, against a market median of 84.8% across 249 themes with enough data. Blum leads that group at 92.8%, followed by Impulse at 90.1%, Reformation at 89.7% and Symmetry at 89.3%. Note that this describes every store running the theme, not a lab test of a demo, so your own images and apps decide where inside that range you land.
Not on the two things that can be measured from outside. In the Clothing top 25 as of September 2026, a $100 theme carries 58 of the 59 capabilities any theme in the store reaches, while three themes priced $340 to $420 sit below the market median for mobile Core Web Vitals. What a higher price does buy, consistently, is a longer review history: the themes above $300 in that group carry hundreds of merchant reviews where the cheapest carry dozens.
Shopify publishes a feature list on every theme's Theme Store page, grouped into cart and checkout, marketing and conversion, merchandising and product display. We count the items in that published list. The store-wide median is 48 and the highest any theme reaches is 59. It is a measure of breadth, not of quality: a theme with 59 capabilities is not automatically better than one with 47, but it is less likely to send you to an app for something basic.
